Do You Want to Know How I Turn The Medium Algorithm Into a Game?
A look into my 3-step process to revitalize my stats page.

I went on vacation a week ago. Even though I pre-wrote an article for every single day, my stats fell.
This tells us one important thing:
Posting daily is not everything you need.
Now that I’m back to my regular schedule, it is time to work on fixing these stats. I’ve been writing on Medium for over a year. Whenever my stats fall, there’s a simple 3-step process to get them back on track:
- Interact with 5–10 articles per day
- Post 2x/day
- Mix up my content
This is how you turn the Medium algorithm into a game.
Interacting with articles gets your name out there.
By commenting on your competition’s work, you can ‘steal’ their followers just by making yourself known as another authority. Interacting to use their stories as marketing means leaving meaningful, helpful, and educated comments.
The better your comment, the more likely their readers are to check you out.
Posting twice daily means doubling my post schedule. Logically speaking, if all my articles consistently get 500 views, having twice as many articles means twice as many views.
If you post once weekly, doubling would mean twice weekly.
Finally, mixing up your content. If your stats have started to dwindle, this means your novelty is wearing off. If you want to maintain relevance, it’s time to switch it up.
If all goes well, I’ll have my stats back to normal in just 2–4 days.
