Summarize

Do you think it is ageist to say that Biden should not be the president because of his age?

I am following up with the last piece I wrote, titled why the U.S. should put an age maximum limit on their politicians because it was imperative to touch on such a touchy subject.

I have also gotten honest comments from readers stating that the article was ageist.

And the idea of discriminating based on age and making stereotypical comments about older adults was not what I set out to write in the article.

So I thought about these comments a lot, and this article is to try to think out of the box to not just suggest with age comes incompetence, and I see where people are going with this, and I would like to address those readers that made those comments.

To express less stereotypical facts or opinions that show why a maximum age requirement should exist.

Let’s for a moment step aside from the fact that with age comes health risks and incompetence, and let’s look at other reasons why older politicians should not run.

They cannot keep up with the younger generations

There are an estimated 56 plus million people aged 65 years or older in the U.S. there is an estimation that there will be more older people than there will be children by 2030, as the youngest baby boomer is expected to turn 65 by 2030.

They should be able to advocate for their group of people.

But still, there are an estimated 140 million millennials and generation zers in the U.S. As a result, these young Americans represent more than half of the U.S. population.

If you think about these numbers, do you still think someone Biden’s age should have the highest position in the world serving a significant population that is half his age?

Instead of looking at age-like health issues like in the other article, I am now asking if you think the age requirement should be more about the problem of older populations being way out of touch with younger generations who vote for them in office.

Today’s world is rapidly evolving more than ever before, and we need leaders to evolve along with these changes

Baby boomers faced crises like the Vietnam war and the civil rights movement during their youthful years, and I respect them and feel they shaped America into what it is today.

But they should step back and let their younger counterparts take these powerful positions because we need to judge how good their leadership is.

I also know everybody is corrupt, and I don’t care who you are, republican or democrat, everybody from both sides can agree both sides of the party are just as corrupt, and you don’t have to be old or young to be corrupt because I did read a comment from one of my readers.

She said this exact thing, and I agree. But I also want to focus on my main point, which is that the world is rapidly changing, and politicians older than 65 are not ready because they grew up in a different time, which causes the gap between the old and young.

Significant changes like technological advancements are at risk of an everyday threat because too much sensitive information online is hacked daily.

Are these 65-year-old American leaders able to handle these types of threats, including actual life incidents like the hack of the colonial pipeline?

Biden would need advisors to help him find solutions to fix these types of problems, and he is probably relying on people who might be in their 40s, like a millennial; my opinion is that if they can help Biden through these issues, why can’t they run for office and have Biden teach them from the sidelines.

This would be a better solution to have these politicians as our teachers instead of our leaders with the most powerful positions in the world.

I am not questioning Biden based on health issues, but whether he is doing what is best for his country’s sake by holding so much power at 80.

This leads me to my next question why is anyone who is passed 70 holding these powerful positions when they could retire and not live a stressed-filled life?

If you think about it, this is more of a power dynamic that is only controlled by a specific age bracket.

It is scary because we have an 80-year-old whose generation doesn’t even make up most of the population. So there needs to be more power controlled by millennials and generation z.

The most powerful positions are taken over by people like Biden’s age, whom I feel hog the majority of the power to themselves and don’t share with the rest of the younger population.

Why do you think older populations are so out of touch these days? Also, do you feel power should be shared and held by people representing most of America’s demographic, and don’t you think older adults should hog that much power?
