Do You Love Me, Or Just The Idea Of Me?
If it’s the latter, it’s time to set me free

Do you love me?
Or just the idea of me?
Do you love me for who I am,
Or for who you want me to be?
Do you love me for my essence,
My flaws, my scars, my truth?
Or do you chase an illusion,
Leaving love devoid of proof?
Do you listen when I speak,
Hearing the words I’m trying to convey?
Or do you only hear what you want,
Ignoring the truths I lay?
Do you stick around when things get tough,
Or do you vanish when the going gets rough?
Am I someone you truly understand,
Or just a piece in your grand plan?
Do you hold me when the tears fall,
And my heart feels heavy with pain?
Or do you turn away, indifferent,
Leaving my cries unheard, in vain?
Do you love me for who I am,
Or for who you hope I’ll become?
Because if it’s not genuine, let’s not pretend
It’s time to bring this love to an end.
