Do You Know The Name of This Damned Movie?
I swear to god this film exists.
Even now as I am writing this, I am desperately searching for the name of this movie that has haunted my life for over twenty years. Every so often when I remember its existence, I will try to find what it’s called, but to no avail.
So I’m calling on Medium detectives, movie buffs, and just plain luck to see if anyone can tell me the name of this effing movie. Because whenever I tell people about it all I get are blank looks and accusations of making it up!
It was inspired by a story from A Strong Woman Weak.
That shoe, as all single shoes at the side of the road do, reminded me of this film. It was over 20 years ago since I saw it, so my description won’t be the best. Bear with me!
It’s set partly in a courtroom and partly through flashbacks of the crime, the perpetrator is being tried for. It strongly references a book about how to get away with murder. The book is essentially a step-by-step guide on how to commit murder and get away with it. From what I can remember, the author is on trial, but I could be wrong.
The focus is on a man with a child with very expensive medical needs. The child needs round-the-clock care and costly procedures and medicines. All of which are cripplingly expensive, and he’s considering killing the child to end the financial drain. Which I think he does in the end, or he hires someone else to do it.
The movie keeps going back to this book about how to get away with murder. And in it, the writer references how you’re supposed to wear shoes that are a different size from your own. Then you’re meant to throw one out of the window 15 miles from the crime scene and the other at least 15 miles from the first shoe.
You see the killer do this whole thing. But they’re unravelled by insurance policies I think. Hence, why they’re in court along with the author.
Does anyone know the name of this damned movie to end my suffering!?
