Do You Know How Amazing a Productivity Creed is?
How a Productivity Creed Sustains My High Level Productivity

When I first started researching productivity habits, I came across something called and Productivity Creed. And to be honest, I thought this was the dumbest thing I had ever heard. It is a statement created to help people move through unmotivated funks in their work day. I thought this was merely a silly way to make oneself feel better about themselves.
However, the Productivity Creed kept popping up in my research. It turns out a lot of high level productivity business people create and use a productivity creed. It seemed absolutely crazy to find out this was a thing. However, it was a trend in my research so I created mine and added it to my list of productivity tips.
The Productivity Creed
I mentioned it is a way to breakthrough unmotivated funks in our work day. However, there is a lot more to it than I thought. There are a few aspects to the creed which help people live productively because of the creed. Here are four reasons why it works:
- Positive Self Talk: It brings us to a place of positivity and gives us a can-do attitude where we know we can sustain productivity.
- Imagining the Future: Like high level athletes imagining things going well the night before a big game, the creed helps us imagine how productive we will be.
- Reminds Us of Who We Are: Focusing on what we can do, what we want to do to, and provides groundwork to make it possible.
- Re-Focuses When Things Don’t Go Right: Have an interruption? Did a task take longer than you thought? This creed helps re-start your focus and drive.
Now that we know what a Productivity Creed is, how it helps, let’s look at what it looks like.
My Productivity Creed
From my review of Productivity Creeds, they basically all look the same, however my is tweeted a little bit to fit my personality. Most creeds felt very aggressive, I wanted mine to feel powerful.
“I, Jack Heimbigner, am the most productive person I know. I command my day and move quickly from task to task, accomplishing business and responsibilities that matter most.”
What I like most about the creed is that it focuses on me. It focuses on what I want to do and what I can do. And it reminds me how I want to focus on important tasks, not the pithy little things that do not matter in my job.
Moving Forward
While I used to think this was a silly idea, I have found after three months of using it that I am always able to refocus the moment things to crazy. I have it written out on a note card right beside my computer monitor. As soon as I feel sluggish or exhausted or frustrated by a task, I take a quick glance and move forward.
Now, this isn’t the only thing that makes me productive. It is part of a list of 21 Productivity Tips I found after a 3am research session.
