The moment you hit publish, you’ve already won.

Writing takes discipline. To share your writing takes courage. We know writing is not easy. We know sharing your work is even harder. There are so many uncertainties when we decide to share our work.

My fourteen-year-old shields her paper from my prying eyes when I spot something she has written down. I remember doing this when I was her age. We have a tendency to shy away from others reading our thoughts. There are so many fears attached to being emotionally raw and letting it all hang out.

There are plenty of people out there that will try to deter you from publishing. Even other writers on Medium will try to tell you why you are not a real writer. Do not let that stop you. If you have a story to share, write it.

Writing takes courage. It doesn’t matter if you are a casual blogger, a professional writer, or just completing a homework assignment. When we let others into our thought world, we are at our most vulnerable. That is why we must share. When you decide to share your writing then you have already won.
