19 Lessons To Reinvent Yourself
What it takes to reinvent yourself

A journey of reinvention
Last year I reinvented myself. I have written extensively about my story being locked abroad due to Covid, ending up in a new country without a job looking after my two young daughters and facing rejection. I have used my journey to inspire others and show them there is different way if you dare to look in a different direction.

Today, I am fulfilled. I became a writer, I am a freelancer in the field of diversity, equity and inclusion, I speak at podcasts and I am a Chief Executive Mum and I am writing my first book. What changed? My mindset.
The lemon tree mindset
Life gave me lemons but I didn’t make lemonade. I decided to take the seeds and plant my own lemon tree.
These are the 19 steps I took to reinvent myself:
- Embrace your uniqueness: there is only 1 you.
2. Discover your superpowers: where skills meet passions.
3. Create room for change: intentional thinking.
4. Set a vision for change: visualize the finish line.
5. Reverse-engineer success: start with the end-goal.
6. Speak a winner’s language: the power of positive language.
7. Develop a tomorrow mindset: remove the anchors.
8. Start small: dedicate the 10% of your time to reinvent yourself.
9. Translate passions: convert your superpowers into value.
10. Fight the imposter syndrome: understand the origin of fear.
11. Rejection is redirection: use rejection as fuel for success.
12. Build in public: create accountability in public.
13. Build your personal brand: define your value proposition.
14. Take your personal brand online.
15. Build your network: your network is your networth.
16. Develop an abundance mindset: create win-win situations.
17. Charge your first dollar: the importance of earning your first dollar.
18. Be your own ambassador: become your biggest supporter.
19. Be intentionally positive: become the most positive person in the room.
Change is incremental
If you want to create change, it starts today. Set an intention and start working towards the person you want to be. 8 months ago, I didn’t have a job, a network, a following or even a purpose. It’s the change in mindset and the little steps I took every day that helped me be where I am today and I’m just getting started!
