Do You Have a Hobby (or Hobbies)?
My passive and active hobbies.
Writing prompt: Do you have a hobby (or hobbies)? What are they?
Hobbies are good.
They keep your mind active. They help you switch your mind to something else. They make you concentrate sometimes or let you do things without thinking.
If they involve some physical activity, that may be even better, I think.
If I do better on the last one (getting back to what I love to do), I may reflect on a new app. 😊
Watching movies or TV programs on TV or online
Comedy shows I saw Everyone Loves Raymond a couple of times last week.
I mostly watch tennis games these days, but if there is something funny going on that I like, I’ll watch it.
Talkshows Some morning and evening shows are fun to watch or listen to while doing my cooking. Some humorous talks are always good because some serious news is already enough from the news.
When they have some adorable or funny animal video clips or photos, I just love to stop what I was cooking and walk closer to the TV to enjoy them. I especially love doggie ones.
Of course, Live with Kelly and Ryan, they talk about their doggies sometimes. I guess that’s one of the reasons I love this show.
Movies Matrix and Sing were showing on TV. I watched some of them.
Is it a coincidence? Although one is action and the other is adorable animation, is about finding and reaching your potential.
I love how movies take my mind to the imaginative stories with or without snacks in my hands.
Sports games It’s that time of the year, the Australian Open is going on. I’ve been having fun watching the games.
Osaka Naomi won another game! I’m glad to see she enjoys her game AND wins her game. She has acquired a new tactic — got great serves both straight and to the cross corner. She used it so effectively in the last game.
Cooking I only bake once in a while. But I like baking scones. They are easy. I just do it without recipes. When I eat them with butter, plain ones are the best!
But I sometimes put blueberries or chocolate before baking them. If I put blueberries in them, they become semi-muffins since they become a little softer. 😄
Pasta and stir-fly are my all-time menu. I can add anything I want to make them tasty. A good amount of garlic (even dried works) and black pepper are key to making them tastier.
And I only cook something that takes a bit of time to cook sometimes. Such as this, I did it from scratch, making dumpling skin from flour and water. I found out I needed to spread a good amount of flour onto the surface where I rolled each flour ball flat.
Creating something
Writing Like the 3D modeling to create images, I spend a few hours writing each day. I sometimes spend longer than a few hours, but it is to make each piece better.
Like I said in my pinned article, I like using writing prompts to motivate myself to write.
Creating images (3d modeling and rendering) For the last few months, I wrote stories first, then created images. I use free software from blender.org and photos from Unsplash to create images for my fiction story. Each piece is short. But it has become a series.

Other things (recently, Web application) Last October, I started creating my app. I didn’t do it every day, but I could have one application done in three months.
My dream of having an app about ten years ago was to build one to help people find their new and old hobbies and do their hobbies regularly, but I couldn’t start with the right tools.
This time, I saw many people, including me struggling with writing. Guess what, I built an app out of it for writers. It is called Writing Prompts & Tips. As the name says, it is simply to help you write for seven days or 15 days with writing prompts and tips.
I categorized them into three levels of difficulties. And you can start anywhere you want. But for now, the “Easy” plan is open for users to do both 7-day and 15-day challenges. And for FREE.
For more details behind making this app, please see my article — here, If you only write every other day, of course, you can do it. The app won’t lock you out for this reason if you take more than 7 or 15 days. For each challenge, you can select the date AND time when you start drafting and save them. Also, you can enter the date & time when you complete your first draft of the last prompt.
As I was the first or two-month-old writer on this platform, I was wondering how often I should write. Then I came across writing challenges. There are challenges like 30-day challenges and 100-day challenges, which I’ve never done. BUT I have done short challenges.
The app reflects what I have done. I also include what I’ve seen and what’s working. It’s not to guarantee an increase in earnings or anything. It just provides you with some ideas to help you write. I wish anyone from newbies to experienced writers can try it.
So it has become a little longer, but what I want to say is that’s what I’ve been putting my mind towards for about three months.
Drawing I don’t do it often, but since I’ve been writing and creating images, it has become a way to take a memo — keeping track of what pops into my mind.
Although I have six pencils in a cup, I don’t make too many details with those pencils when I do memo-kind of drawing. Instead, I quickly draw the images with pens.
In my fiction stories, a few of my drawings have appeared.
New hobby/Getting back to what I love to do
Since I LOVE coffee and haven’t gone to coffee shops that much since last year… I should enjoy it more. I should start it this month.
I’ll try to go to a coffee shop at least once a month, either to a new one or the ones I used to go to.
Am I making a small New Year’s resolution? Anyway, having something fun to look forward to, and using it to reward me, and so on, is a good thing, I think.
It will also motivate me to look for a new place.
Summing up
So, my hobbies are: Passive ones — Watching movies or TV programs on TV or online Active ones — Creating something And, new hobby/getting back to what I love to do — aiming to grab a cup of a drink at a cafe each month.
