Do You Feel Like a Fish Out of Water?
Looking for a Better Way

It Starts with Perspective
Yesterday, I walked through the Alaskan backcountry to gain perspective on reality. How does this work? Well, it all starts with a ship out of water.
Is it the Same as Yesterday?
The ship I work on is in a dry dock for some emergency repairs, which allowed me some extra time to ponder the realities of the world as we know it. The question remains: is the world the same as I knew it yesterday?
Reality Has Changed
The answer seems obvious. Nothing is the same as yesterday, and it will never return to yesterday’s world. What, where, how, and why are less important than reality. It has changed, and we need to deal with reality.
The Quest for Life
I have vowed not to discuss war, politics, or hate in any form. So, how do I explain the changes in today’s world without discussing any of the following? I write about the quest for life, love, and the pursuit of happiness.
Are You Human?
I can appeal to your better side by asking you to set aside the differences and look for the similarities with humanity. Are you human? I ask the question only in jest, but it brings to question what you think a human is.

A Ship Out of Water
I see the world today like my fish out of water. I see my ship on land and think it is a fish out of water. The world is flopping around looking for sanity when all we need to do is act like a fish.
Please Breathe
What I mean is breathe. Just sit back, look around, and breathe in, breathe out. It could be your last breath or the breath of sanity creeping back into humanity.
It Takes All Types, Including Mine
Has the world gone crazy? There is too much violence, hate, and greed in today’s world, or has it always been this way? They say that it takes all types to run the world. It is a good thing that my type is included in all types. Not to worry, that includes your type as well.
Sanity is Only a Breath Away
I believe there are more lovers than haters in the world, but it only takes a few bad apples to ruin the bunch. Just remember that sanity is only one breath away.
Eight Billion Differences
I ask the world to step back, look around, and breathe. We are all human, which means there are eight billion humans on the planet. Each of us is unique, with different desires, wants, needs, and the need to breathe air.

Eight Billion Similarities
I want to point out that we all breathe the same air, drink the same water, and need to eat to live. We can all start with that commonality to define a human being. We are one and the same, yet each of us is different.
A World of Inequalities
I personally embrace the differences and accept that we are all born equal in a world of inequalities. I only ask that we all breathe some sanity into the world today, tomorrow, and every day that follows.
Hiking and Humanity
And all of this came from hiking in the backwoods of Alaska and seeing my ship out of water. From Seward, Alaska, with love and a ship out of water.
