“Do you ever question the nature of your reality?” — Westworld

A common sci-fi plot device is when AI question their nature. Are they making their own decisions, or are they programmed to do so? The question remains intriguing because it’s a mirror upon ourselves. Am I making my own decisions, or am I the programming of my evolution?
The question frequently occurs when we’re unhappy with our mundy life, and we get that ‘rat race’ feeling. The Matrix capitalized on this common feeling and got us to believe we could be like Neo, that there’s something special about us but not the 8 billion other people on Earth.
My realization is that wanting to be special leads to unhappiness. Be ok with being a spec of dust in the vastness of time and space. Go ahead and question the nature of your reality, and then smile at it.
