Abstract

The author insists on packing a Waterpik, a device that uses a jet of water to clean teeth, despite its inconvenience due to size and weight. The author recounts a painful experience in Kuala Lumpur when the absence of the Waterpik resulted in significant discomfort. The article underscores the value of the Waterpik in preventing such issues and considers it a worthwhile investment compared to the costs and pain associated with dental work.

Do You Bring Strange Items When You Travel?

I must bring this with me when I travel

There’s something I have to bring every time I go on vacation.

I have to bring my Waterpik with me! It’s not the most convenient item to bring on a trip, but I must bring it.

For those of you who don’t know what a Waterpik is, it’s a handheld water flosser. It’s an incredibly useful gadget! You fill it with water and it spews out a strong jet of water to flush everything out.

It does a great job of cleaning out everything that the toothbrush couldn’t get out! I bought it years ago and use it every night.

The Waterpik has a bit of a price tag associated with it. In my humble opinion, I believe it’s worth the money.

I’d much rather pay for this gadget, then to go through hours of grueling and painful dental work.

Here is my Waterpik. Sorry, it looks a bit dirty! 😢 (photo provided by the author)

I have a small gap between my teeth at the very back of my mouth. Even after I brush my teeth and floss, there’s a good chance that there is something caught in that gap.

No matter what I do, I can’t get it out. And if I don’t clean it properly, it causes a small infection.

To avoid getting any painful tooth aches, I opt to bring the Waterpik along. It’s the only tool that can flush out the gap and make sure it’s clean. Regular brushing, flossing or even toothpicks don’t get the job done. I despise bringing along clunky items when I travel, but there’s no compromise with this one.

I learned this lesson awhile back when I was travelling.

At the time, I was in Kuala Lumpur one time for about a few days, so I left the Waterpik back in Ipoh.

I figured I wouldn’t need it for a few days. I’d just try to clean it as best as I could. I was wrong.

To my dismay, something got stuck in there. I couldn’t get it out no matter what I tried. I ended up having a very uncomfortable ache in the back of my mouth for days.

So now I bring this along with me everywhere I go! It’s the most convenient gadget I’ve ever bought.
