Summary

The author reflects on the transformative experience of motherhood, which rekindles the ability to dream without limits and inspires her to pursue her dreams with the same fearlessness and joy as her children.

Abstract

The author of the web content, presumably a mother, shares a personal journey of rediscovery through the eyes of her children. She contrasts the adult world, filled with limitations and responsibilities, with the boundless imagination and potential she observes in her baby and toddler. The children's presence in her life serves as a reminder to dream like she did in her youth, to aspire, and to live life to its fullest. The author acknowledges the challenges of parenthood but emphasizes the greater gift of learning to dream again and setting an example for her children. She expresses gratitude for the opportunity to relearn through her children and to embody the lessons she wishes to impart to them. The piece concludes with a reflection on the unbreakable bond between parent and child and a celebration of Mother's Day, inviting readers to share their own experiences and engage with the author's upcoming work.

Let’s Get Real

Do You “Believe” or “Be + Live” Your Dreams?

What children do to you: they make you into a mother, and teach you to be a child again. That’s their gift.

I have a dream I dream that once again I can dream Dream bigger and bolder than ever before Dream like a child who knows no limit And run after my dreams

They say you are the 5 people who spend the most time with I send most of my time with a baby and a toddler Full of potential Not many intellectual discussions Full of actions Not many reflections Full of trying And me trying to limit the damages Full of energy And me running after them

Then I realize that I wanted to be the one to be run after I wanted to show them that I was better I wanted to show them that I was the adult I dreamed I would be I aspire to inspire them I aspire to inspire them to live their life to their fullest I aspire to touch their heart and show them that dreams are limitless

Those little bundles of joy reminded me that the world is vast So much bigger than the adult sight So much more exciting than the dangers the adult sees So much more fun than the tasks the adult needs to do So much more limitless than the difficulties adults and children encounter So much more

I had forgotten to dream like a child They came to my life to remind me They reminded me of the adult I dreamed as a child I would become Thank God they came to show me the way They came for me to run after them So that I can learn to run again after my dreams Like a baby, I need to learn To crawl and fall To cry, fumble and stand back up as many times as needed Until I walk again Until I run with them

So that one day, I will show them that I was able to learn again That I learned well and became the living example of that life lesson And if they ever forget, they will be able to think of me

Thank God it’s not too late For me to learn again For me to become an adult that can dream life like a child To believe To be, live my dreams With those bundles of joy life gave me

The best gift my children could ever give me:

They made me into a mother And reminded me what it is to be a child.

Children, a bond unbreakable, beyond all measures* Nature’s gifts, cherished treasures* What wouldn’t we do for them? What wouldn’t they do for us? Happy Mother’s Day!

Afterthoughts:

What is the best gift you ever received as a mother or gave to a mother? 😄 Mine apparently was a poem I wrote in primary school, on a card that is still hanging in my parents’ closet. Fortunately for me, it was never publicly published 😜 Happy Mother’s Day!
