Do You Believe America Is A Racist Country?
Most people would agree that it is
It is a diverse country with many ethnicities
The last election for President of the United States was very contentious. Joe Biden became the President. There was a great deal of turmoil and discord because Donald Trump and his loyal supporters would not admit that Biden had won. They fought and protested even to the point of having an insurrection at the Capitol in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021.
After Trump held his rally on that day, he admonished people to march to the Capitol to protest against the certification of the election results which was going on in Congress. He said he was going to be right there with them, but he retreated to the White House instead. His followers marched on the Capitol. They unlawfully entered by breaking windows and climbing inside. They caused damage and destruction to a sacred edifice of the United States.
Vice President at the time, Mike Pence, was in the Capitol with lawmakers in both houses of Congress. Trump basically called Pence a coward for not doing his bidding to stop the election certification. It was a horrible day for the country.
America is a great country in spite of all the chaos caused by a segment of the population. Many of those people who had been basically law abiding citizens became criminals when they stormed the Capitol. They possibly ruined their lives by their unlawful actions to support a man who called for them to fight against the election results.
Racism was not at the forefront that day, but it was an issue in the election results. Trump and his people were proclaiming that the election was stolen from them. Although other Republicans won where Trump did not, the results of several states were being contested. There was no widespread election fraud discovered, and the results of the election were certified with Joe Biden becoming President.
Since the elections, there have been efforts to suppress the Black vote as if that is the only reason that Trump lost. Trump claims that he is not racist, but his words and actions indicate otherwise.
When the Republican National Convention was held before the election, Nikki Haley spoke. She is a former governor of South Carolina and had been appointed by Trump to be Ambassador to the United Nations. Haley stated that America is NOT a racist country.
She insisted that she and her immigrant parents from India were not held back by racism. They were accepted.
Most people would not agree with Haley. Racism has been evident in the United States for centuries. Unfortunately, it still exists. There are many wonderful people who are not racist. They are accepting and tolerant, but the other segment exists as well.
Black people and Brown people have suffered possibly the worst racism in the United States. However, at the current time with the COVID pandemic and the words of Trump, Asian Americans are facing extreme racism. Many cases of racist rants have been documented on video. Asian Americans have even been injured and died from hate crimes and racism against them.
America needs more acceptance, tolerance, and love toward people who may not look the same as their neighbors. Racism should not go on as it has for too long. People should get to know people who are different than they are.
We should all do our part to stop racism.
