Do You Always Make a Plan?

What are you going to do today?

Life is too dang short to get out of bed and start worrying about what needs to be done first!

Each day we know there are things we need to do. But typically … what comes first?

We all know … there are those days we have something we “must” do. Maybe we have a dentist's appointment! That makes what we do first and second relatively important and probably associated with the dental visit.

Let’s suppose there is no “earth-shattering” appointment or deadline!

Let’s work from this point of view.

  • Toilet use
  • Brush teeth
  • Wash face
  • Get dressed
  • Stretch

Okay, I know… silly, but what we do! Now what? Have a cup of coffee? Definitely!

A little quiet time is good for me. Having that coffee and reading time first thing is what is good for me. This leads me, the maker of lists of things to do, to pick up a journal. I do suggest it might be a good idea!

My reading and quiet time start me to remember what may be most important today!

I have so many lists it is hard to find some of them.

I make a list of books I want to read and movies I might like to watch. There is also a document with quotes I love and potential ideas for writing an article or teaching my art students. I have a list of deadlines for entering my artwork in competitions. OMG! That is an important list for me and does not get lost … at least most of the time.

Those are only three of the types of lists I keep. I have several journals that get started with my ideas or notes from a webinar I attended. They may contain one of the lists I mentioned above because it was easy to pick up and write in. At times I have to look through maybe four or five journals to find a particular thought I have … what I need to do this morning!

My brain has way too many ideas when I wake first thing each morning. I need those prompts from the journals and the lists. It keeps me on track for the things that need doing.

I have tried several methods and applications to keep up with my plans, lists of duties, daily needs, etc. I cannot make those work. I am better at writing down what I need in my own journals and in my own way. It seems to work for me … even if, at times, it can be frustrating to look in so many places.

Do you have a favorite method for keeping up with what you want to accomplish?

Is it the first thing on your mind when you wake each morning?

Or … are you a person that has a cup of coffee, does a little reading first … and then breakfast and get going?

Chime in with your methods. I would love to hear about them.

You may teach me something!
