Do You Always Feel Like a Packhorse After a Holiday?

I always end up with more bags than I went with!

I went on holiday to Great Yarmouth with my husband recently.

“I’ll only take what I need,” I told myself.

I set out my holiday essentials, clothes, toiletries, make-up, and jewelry. I counted everything out.

“Two dresses, three pairs of trousers, 5 pairs of socks, underwear, etc. Great, that will do!” I told myself.

When I go on holiday, I like to keep bags to a minimum, especially after having brought up six children and understanding the packing nightmare!

Uh-oh, I didn’t consider what I might bring back!

I take at least one medium bag or suitcase, plus my makeup and hair care cases with me, but I somehow always end up with more to bring home after the holiday!

We ended up with five bags to come home with!

When I packed, I didn’t account for what I might buy.

I love shopping, I’m known for it.

Everything is cheaper in Great Yarmouth compared to Bournemouth where I currently live, and I can buy many things that I can’t buy in Bournemouth.

You’d think after holidaying in Great Yarmouth for over 18 years, I’d understand what my shopping habits are like when I go there.

But no!

I never learn.

I always miraculously ended up coming home with more than I went with, and coming home, I felt like a packhorse!

A packhorse is used to carry goods on its back, and I wish they were never used. I find it tiring just loading the car with all my things that magically appear on holiday, and I felt even more tired after lugging six children’s luggage from and to the holidays we had when they were young, so those poor horses or donkeys must be exhausted after all that carrying.

Note: Carol, remember not to overdo the holiday shopping next time.

I know I will do it again.

I always do!
