My Perfect Pet Rock

Your constant wide-open gaze accepted all of me When I looked away sad or embarrassed, you never broke your attention

My yells and cries of frustration only strengthened your will to stand by me Your sturdy foundation builds my resolve

Your needs were always sacrificed for my well-being When I was ill, you let me hold you, never letting go

Your rough body shells your loving heart You hear me and humbly let me speak

Never interrupting or walking away before I am done You are my friend, forever

You strengthen my courage to be there for others Quiet and focused, listening and loving

Till that day when you speak your request I stand firm beside you, unwavering in gratitude
