DID YOU KNOW?

Do This to Heal Your Red, Burning, and Itchy Eyes When You Don’t Have Allergies

Find fast relief and join ‘those people.’

Who knew?

At least 3 times a week, I dreaded having to look at the eyes of the school employees with my bloodshot, stoner eyeballs when I retrieved my grandson from their clutches.

My eyes itched. I dug at them, rubbed them, and could not keep my fingers out of them. Both of them would randomly mass-produce goop. They grew angry and swelled with irritation. Attractive, no?

I don’t smoke cigarettes, weed, or anything.

Suffering the paranoia of yesteryear, when I did indulge, seemed unjust. Those days were supposed to be tucked deep in my past.

I sensed staring from the School Administrator with her sideways glances, and I worried she would make a call to the Department of Children and Family Services to make an erroneous report.

My orbits and their discomfort became all-consuming.

My eyes burned. I had no history of any allergies. I peered suspiciously at the Florida palm trees and wondered if some unusual pollen was the culprit. Were they just beautiful on the outside and sneaky, little allergen bombers in disguise?

And, as will happen, I read an article that triggered a hopeful solution. I rubbed my eyes and read some more.

Excited, I went out on a limb.

The intrigue in a possible solution drove me to investigate further. At this point, I believed thousands of my dollars were wasted on Zyrtec and Claritin. It struck me how stupid I may have been to treat non-existent allergies.

I embarked on the quest to verify my newly discovered information.

I imagine we all start at the obvious place where you can find Oreos, sweaters, eyebrow tweezers, felt furniture pads, and leaf blowers, all within just feet of each other.

Walmart, of course.

I foraged through the haphazard display in the Pharmacy section to unearth a pair of low-numbered ‘blue-light readers’ and hurriedly drove them home to try out.

Voila!

My eyes responded within the first day of wearing them to work at my computer. Days two and three and right on into this month have yielded the same success.

And, now, I have become one of those people.

We all know them. They are old people who we vow we will never be like. The people that have some throw-away reading glasses strewn about the house to grab at a moment’s notice are nuts.

I am proud to join their ranks.

My new abode is tiny, and I currently have 3 pairs strategically placed throughout.

My eyes have never been happier.

If you don’t have allergies, but your eyes are oozing, swollen, bloodshot, and itchy, you can always try this relief.

This grandma has to work, you know. My livelihood, regardless of which hat I’m wearing, centers around my laptop and occasionally my cell phone.

Did you know about the blue light emitted from your electronic devices?

Oh. I didn’t.

What is blue light?

All visible light we humans see contains the entire spectrum of the rainbow, from red to violet. Within that spectrum are blue light waves, which are said to help us stay alert and upbeat.

By staring at screens all day, we’re also exposed to blue light waves, which are said to cause a myriad of issues.

According to the American Optometric Association, digital eye strain is “a group of eye and vision-related problems that result from prolonged computer, tablet, e-reader, and cell phone use.” Those issues range from blurry vision and dry eyes to headaches and neck pain. ~ CNET

I am no longer paranoid or considered suspicious by the general public. My fingers are no longer rooted in my eyes. They are freed, once again, to gesticulate wildly at the people on the road. How they call themselves drivers, I’ll never know.

I could be technically and medically wrong, but these glasses work well for me. The Cleveland Clinic contradicts my layman’s assessment, however, and lumps my symptoms into overall digital eye strain, not blue light specific. See an ophthalmologist for a proper analysis.

I’ll continue to remain open to additional suggestions if my issues return. For now, my eyes are clear and so is my mind.

Blue Light Readers.

Now you know.
