Don’t you let it slip away
Do not forget about the time you used to wake up and pour yourself a giant bowl of cereal with regular milk and an extra spoon or two of sugar. Do not forget the time when food was just taste and not numbers. Do not forget the time when there was no such thing as minimums and maximums. Do not forget that you use to be able to feel full.
Do not forget about the excitement you felt when your mom baked cinnamon rolls on special Sunday mornings. Do not forget the times that your parents would carry you inside from the car when you were asleep. And do not forget the times where you just pretended you were asleep so they would carry you.
Do not forget about going to a sleepover at your best friend’s house and secretly making cookies dough at 2 am to eat while re-watching your favorite movie for the 4th time of the night. Do not forget the pizza, ice cream, and cake that you would eat at birthday parties. Do not forget all the parties you went to, all the fun times you had.
Do not forget quality over quantity, keep your true friends close. Do not forget that your truest friends aren’t necessarily the ones you’ve known the longest. Do not forget the people that were there to pick you up after you have had a rough night. Do not forget your first kiss. Do not forget that you can still make new friends. Do not forget to tell the people you love most how much you truly love them.
Do not forget that it is okay to make mistakes as long as you learn from them. Do not forget the times that you sneak out of the house. Do not forget the time where you did things because it was fun but later regret it. Do not forget to treat yourself, screaming your lungs out at a concert that took months to convince your parents to let you go.
Do not forget all the memories you’ve made overseas with your family, all the traveling and holidays you went on. Do not forget all the adventures you went on, all the risks you’ve taken.
Do not forget the time where you stay up way too late that 3 cups of coffee was still not enough to keep you awake during school. Do not forget all the times you’ve slept in and forgot to go to school. Do not forget the names of the teachers that made enjoy school.
Do not forget all the times you stared longingly at your crush, afraid to ask them out. Do not forget about the time where you finally got the courage to ask your crush out and they said yes. Or the time where they said no and you cried for hours in your bedroom. Do not forget all the games of truth or dare, spin the bottle, and other dumb party games you played.
Do not forget to be yourself. Do not forget the times you would bring home an A+ and your parents would be so proud. Do not forget that one less-than-perfect grade doesn’t mean that you’re less worthy. Do not forget you’re allow to be less than your best sometimes. Do not forget even when you fail, there will still be time for you to succeed, one failure does not make you a failure.
Do not forget the time that you cried so loud that your parent came into your room and ask what’s wrong with a very worried face. Do not forget when your parents got so concerned when you came back home 30 mins late.
Do not forget that good things take time. Do not forget to let go and forgive, keeping it in is only going to weigh you down. Do not forget the people that cheered you up when you were sad. Do not forget the 3 am chats you had with your best friend and having to whisper because your parents might hear you talking. Do not forget to be grateful for everything you have.
Do not forget the time where you were a kid and your parents would take you to the library and come home with a giant pile of books. Do not forget getting home and reading six whole chapters straight and only stopping when it is dinner time and going back to reading straight after dinner. Do not forget the look on your parents face when they saw you so concentrated while reading.
Do not forget back when you could have two slices of pizza without beating yourself up. Do not forget the nights you sat alone in your room eating tubs of ice cream crying your heart out while watching sad movies.
Do not forget that you are beautiful the way you are. Do not forget that everyone has their definition of being “attractive”, but that doesn’t mean you’re not. Do not forget that what matters most is on the inside.
Do not forget all the memories you’ve made but also don’t be afraid to make new ones either. Do not forget the names of the people you are willing to stay up all night for. Do not forget the people that watch you grow, the ones that remember who you were when you were only 9.
Do not forget those friends that make you smile and laugh. Do not forget the friends that waited for you. Do not forget the friends that helped you through things even when others didn’t. Do not forget the friends you would call your family.
Do not forget the time when you would stay up way past your bedtime to try and see Santa deliver your presents. Do not forget able when your parents would leave a coin under your pillow pretending to the tooth fairy. Do not forget that your only goals were to beat your sibling is stupid things like who can get the cupcake with the most icing.
Do not forget your happiest memories. Do not forget your saddest memories. Do not forget the unhappy moments in life. Do not forget the pain and heartbreak, but learn to accept it, learn from it. Do not forget, family is everything.
Do not ever forget how to put a smile on your face!
