Do leaders value workability or work attitude more? The situation cannot be generalized
Which one is more important to leaders, ability or attitude? I want to firmly say it is “ability”, but when I think about it carefully, it seems wrong. However, if I say it is “attitude”, it seems inaccurate.
As a professional, it is impossible to be reused or promoted if you are not strong in ability, but your ability will also be buried due to attitude problems. It should be said that both are important. As for which one does the leader value more? We cannot generalize and analyze specific situations on a case-by-case basis.
01. Ability and attitude in one
Ability and attitude are two-in-one, just like the two sides of a coin. As for which one is more important to leaders? It cannot be looked at in isolation.
The strength of ability represents the value created. As a leader, do you ignore the value created by your subordinates just because they have a good attitude?
However, ability can be cultivated, but attitude is difficult to change. If you have strong ability but a careless attitude, your ability will be greatly reduced. If you are a leader, will you be reused?
People’s abilities come in different sizes. A good attitude must mean a strong ability. Just like some people have been working hard and have a good attitude, but they just can’t produce results. To such subordinates, as a leader, you can only say: “There is no credit, but hard work.”
But after all, the workplace is “result-oriented”. If you don’t have results, no matter how good your attitude is, what will happen? You may even be mistaken for not doing your job properly because you can’t do your job properly, so you only know how to show your kindness to the leader. You may like it, but you may not necessarily value it.
02. There are always very few people who rely on ability
Under the same environment, there won’t be much difference in everyone’s abilities, and only a very small number of people have superior abilities.
For example, if your company sells soap, no matter how capable you are, you cannot sell the soap for the price of a car. Even if there are, they are very few.
Just because you are strong doesn’t mean others are weak. At most, it’s what you can accomplish in one day. Others need two days or even longer. However, if there are resources from the leader, the results are likely to change.
Therefore, the quality of attitude will play a big role when the abilities are similar. We cannot simply compare abilities, but we must consider that human factors may play a role.
If you are one of those very few people, even if the leader gives resources to others, you still cannot surpass the value you create, then attitude is not so important. On the contrary, he will become a representative of what people say: “The stronger the ability, the more personality.”
03. Good attitude, but it’s still not enough to stretch your hips
You may have a good attitude, but your boss won’t take it seriously if you can’t pull your hips. As a leader, you have more choices, so why do you have to choose someone who can pull your hips? Even if he has a good attitude.
The attitude is indeed good. He works conscientiously, works hard, works overtime for free, asks for instructions early, and reports late… The attitude is indeed good, but he just can’t achieve results. If you were a leader, would you think this person is too stupid?
Even in the logic of some leaders, this kind of person “does not do his job properly” and does not do his job well, so he just knows how to flatter the leader and cater to the leader. They so-called work seriously, work hard, and work overtime for free… These are all “acted”, otherwise how can Maybe I can’t achieve results?
Do you think people with good attitudes are innocent? Feeling aggrieved? As a result, some people appear and use their lazy work attitude to cover up their lack of ability.
Having a good attitude may not be a good thing without sufficient ability to support it. Therefore, walking on two legs is much more stable than walking on one leg.
04. The stronger the ability, the more important the attitude is
If you are not a person with extraordinary ability, it is best not to believe in the saying “The stronger the ability, the better the temper”. Because the stronger the ability, the greater the destructive power.
There are three issues that any leader cares about: the security of power, the controllability of power, and the extension of power. When it comes to power and security, the slogan for production safety is “Safety first, prevention first.”
Once the attitude of a highly capable person deviates, then “prevention first” will take over. People with strong abilities will cause more trouble than those with weak abilities, and leaders will have to pay greater costs to clean up the mess.
As long as one’s interests are involved, no one will make the wrong choice, especially when it comes to the interests of leaders and subordinates. The leader first wants to protect his interests from being damaged, and the subordinates second.
Even those leaders who seem to have abandoned their interests are just making longer-term plans. Therefore, the stronger the ability, the more important the attitude issue.
05. Ability is the “root” and attitude is the “fat”
As an individual, ability is the foundation of a life. As long as the ability is strong enough, you will be valued wherever you go. However, a good attitude determines whether the ability will be fully released.
Just like no matter how good the seed variety is, it may grow well if left to grow, but if it can be nourished by fertilizers, the growth will be even higher.
“Potential talents” are those who have abilities on their own but have not yet surfaced. At this time, they need a certain amount of help to display their talents. The quality of their attitude can speed up the efficiency of being appreciated.
Don’t say anything like “Gold always shines”. Gold has no life and can wait until it is discovered. However, human life is limited and careers are even shorter. The “golden progress period” is only a few years. If you miss a step, you will lose everything. Can’t keep up.
Just like the MRT and buses, if you miss the bus, you will be a little behind every time. When the last bus leaves, don’t expect to be waiting for you to get on the bus.
Unless you change transportation or have enough weight, let it wait. Although they exist, most of them are just ordinary people, so don’t hold on to such extravagant hopes and illusions.
Therefore, having strong abilities and a good attitude will allow you to display your talents faster. Don’t prolong your progress for the sake of so-called “personality.”
In the workplace, ability, and attitude are equally important. Walking on two legs is faster and more stable. When it comes to which leader values more, the things that leaders value will change accordingly at different stages and under different circumstances. When you are unable to make accurate judgments, you must improve your abilities and keep up with your attitude. Adults don’t make single choices, they want them all. What’s more, there is no conflict between the strength of ability and the quality of attitude.
