Do catchy titles contain negative words?

Many times writing the story is much easier than coming up with a title for it.

My story or your story is probably incredibly interesting, but if it doesn’t have an eye-catching headline, most people won’t click on it.

Creating award-winning titles is part of the online writing biz nowadays. I think it’s always been important, but even more so today because of the competition.

I’m a newbie here without many views (yet!). My most viewed article is titled “How to survive your first year in France”. This makes me think people are…

A. Interested in moving to France or

B. Just curious about France or

C. Wondering how to survive in a foreign country

I think the words “how to” also make this article more attractive.

As far as negative words go in titles, I read a story called 3 Viral Stories With Earnings From $162 — $1.100 by Mira Lucas and she talks about stories going viral when the title has a negative word in it.

I definitely think she’s onto something. I haven’t tried this tactic yet, but I think I will.

I’m working on improving my titles because I believe people would like reading my stories; they just gotta get hooked by captivating words first!

An important thing for me to remember is to be honest. I want my title to actually be about something in my story. I don’t want to use a flashy phrase just to lure people in and then not deliver.
