Distances
Micro-Fiction

A cloudy afternoon. A cup of tea in his hand. David Goggins’ Can’t Hurt Me, sitting on the table. Enya’s Watermark, playing in the background. It appears that he is enjoying a peaceful existence. But he isn’t.
While missing his parents, his country and most importantly, his friends, he often questions his decision to leave all that behind for sake of professional excellence.
Is it worth it? He asks his inner being.
“Depends. The way you’re looking at it, it isn’t. But if you look at it through the prism of rational perspective, it is worthy of your sacrifices.”
“But it feels like too big of a sacrifice for too little.”
“No. It is not! Because remember, it’s only after we make such sacrifices, we can expect greatness. Apparently, that’s price. Is it too costly? Maybe. Is it worth it? For sure.”
He heaves a big sigh, “let it be then.”
