Wednesday: What illusions must I dispel?

Smiling faces might be hiding deep sadness. Squeals of laughter might be choking back an ocean of tears. Screaming bouts of anger might be an involuntary cry for help. Sarcastic quips might be subtle signs of insecurity.
Smug expressions reveal narcissistic traits. Snide remarks hint at passive-aggressive behaviour. Sentimentality advocates can cloak cynicism. Stress-inducing episodes pinpoint depression.
Happily married people can exhibit these signs of behaviours. Superbly successful families can go through emotional turmoil. Madly in love, couples feel lonely and fearful. Anyone can be sad, resentful, or cynical, not just single people.
Self-partnered lifestyle nurtures self-love and self-preservation. Singlehood can be adopted to save oneself from self-depreciation. Relationship status does not determine the patterns of behaviour. We should work on our emotional intelligence before judging others.
