Disconnect your wallet before it’s too late! — updated

I use Metamask a lot.
I have a different wallet for each project that I invest with. I do this for extra security. Unbeknownst to me that wasn’t enough!
Don’t make the same mistake I made or you may not like the results…
(NONE OF WHAT I WRITE IN MY ARTICLES IS TO BE TAKEN AS INVESTMENT ADVICE. I am not an advisor for this nor am I suggesting any financial action on your part. DYOR)

I almost made a major mistake & it almost cost me $255!!!
It would have cost me if I wasn’t paying attention.
What?!?!?
Yes, I was trying to invest 0.36 BNB into a new project (more about this new project in another article…keep reading this one for now…) that just launched earlier today. It launched at 1PM CST.
I had my token in the right place & converted to BNB for the project. I was primed & ready. I was eager to be one of the first to invest & it wouldn’t work.
Metamask kept telling me that I didn’t have enough available funds for the gas fees…

After looking a bit closer, I noticed that I was going to be charged 0.93126444 BNB for gas fees!!!! STOP!!! DO NOT CLICK ACCEPT!!!! GO Back!
0.9312 BNB = $255!
For some reason it was trying to send my BNB to a different address than the one for this project….How to correct this?
What I did…
So of course I reached out to the community on the projects telegram page. One of the owners of the project actually asked me to DM him for further assistance. I did & I’m glad I did.
We tried the following tings to resolve this issue:
- open & close the browser tab — No fix
- open & close the browser — No fix
- disconnect & reconnect Metamask — No fix
- refresh the page — No fix
- clear browser history, cache, & cookies — No fix
Nothing seemed to work. It was so frustrating!
Here I was watching all the other people get their investments in quickly & easily. Every few seconds someone was updating the TVL in the telegram group.
I was having a lot of trouble. Why???
I then tried clicking on those 3 little dots in the upper right hand corner of my wallet & saw that I could see all the connected sites for this wallet.

I then saw a giant list of sites that my wallet had ever been connected. It was scary. I try to have a separate wallet for each project, for security. This meant that I had 1 wallet that was connected to several projects & I didn’t even know it. OUCH! So much for safety & security…

This blew my brain. I was under the assumption that once you stopped being active in a project then it was magically disconnected from your wallet. NOT SO! Duh!! (face palm)
I then frantically started clicking disconnect on everything on the list, which was more than just a few sites.

I continued this until the only sites left were current sites for that project.

After disconnecting all those sites, I closed & reopened my web browser. Then I went to the project’s site & reconnected. I was able to make my investment with a lot less gas fees.
This time it worked! WhooHoo!!!
What now?
Now, I’m going to go through all of my wallets & start disconnecting anything that doesn’t belong there.
Time to start “Crypto Cleaning!”
(Don’t worry. For those of that are curious what this new project is, that just launched & I just invested with today, I’ll be writing another article about it very soon. Here’s a hint:
They say that it is the first & only ponzi free crypto farm ever…
Update:
Since this article has gone viral & it would be a good idea to give credit where credit is due.
CryptoCraig is the person who helped me out & deserves the credit. Go visit his YouTube channel here:
You can also read about this new project that I’m invested into here as well. So far so good. I should reach ROI in about 50 days & then it’s all profit after that. Here’s an article I wrote about this new project:
Here is a link to the new project:
Till next time.
Thanks for reading!
Now following anybody that interacts with my articles… God Speed!
