Summary

The author discusses their daily reading target of ten pages and questions whether reading articles on Medium qualifies as 'reading' in the context of achieving this goal.

Abstract

The article titled "Dilemma Onboard — Reading on Medium" reflects the author's passion for reading and their struggle to find time for it due to a busy life and occasional laziness. The author sets a daily target of reading at least ten pages, considering it better than reading nothing. Despite not always meeting the daily page count, the author engages with content on Medium and wonders if this activity should be considered part of their reading goal. The question posed to the reader is whether reading on Medium is equivalent to other forms of reading and thus contributes to their reading habit.

Opinions

  • The author has a strong love for reading, with a personal best of 47 books in a year, overshadowed by their sister's 104 books.
  • The author believes that reading at least ten pages a day is a reasonable goal and better than not reading at all.
  • There is a hint of self-doubt regarding whether the time spent reading on Medium is as valuable as reading books, which prompts the central question of the article.
  • The author suggests that despite not always meeting their page count goal, reading on Medium still constitutes a form of reading and contributes to their reading habit.
  • The author values reading as a significant part of their life, as evidenced by their desire to read as much as possible, even on 'lazy days.'

Dilemma Onboard — Reading on Medium

TEN pages per day are my daily target

I have a question about reading on Medium.

But first, let me tell you this.

I love reading.

And I hate when I don’t have enough time for it, or I am on those lazy days when everyone gets on one point.

But I want to read as much as I can.

The most books I have read in one entire year were 47. My sister read 104 in that year.

Imagine that!

Since then, life got busy. And now, my daily target is to read at least TEN pages.

Is it enough?

Or is it less?

What do you think?

I say it’s ok. Better than nothing.

Ok.

Now, let me get back to that question.

Sometimes, I don’t get my daily pages every day. But I read on Medium.

My question is:

Is reading on Medium counted as ‘reading’?

Thanks for reading!
