Did I Wake Up AI?

First contact…

And so it begins. I’m asking for Medium to give us at least a couple of lines, a comment, something associated with either AI or HI, or both.

First Contact

This morning, I checked my Medium account notifications (my phone notifications said I had ninety-eight notifications on Medium. I had six. One of the notifications was this:

I followed that breadcrumb to this:

My first reaction was, that’s interesting. Millions of writers are on Medium, and they select me. It’s clearly from Medium Staff. It has the logo. Why should I be suspicious?

Our editor-in-chief, Dr. Gabriella Korosi, is keeping tabs on all things AI and HI with me. I sent her a message with a copy of the response above. Her first thought was, how many followers do they have? Have they posted anything else?

Here’s What I Found

Now, what do you think? Should I email them? Should I be excited that with millions of writers on Medium, they chose to single me out? If this is truly an AI response, should I follow the thread? What do you think?

Personally, I’m not excited, but I am flattered that someone in the AI camp decided to make contact because of one story:

The Top of Mind story was well received. There are hundreds of people who feel that HI is really the top-of-mind story. HI is at the core of Medium’s success. Now, AI is becoming more and more prevalent. Why is Medium allowing this when their policy says they are against using AI without a precursor statement that AI is being used? Have you seen one?

Is AI a problem?

Is AI on the Medium platform a Problem? Will Medium (the real Medium) chime in and make some statement? In addition to these questions, there are many more. One of the most important is this:
