Diana Meresc Is Not a Real Human

She’s an AI bot

In today’s online world, AI bots can do wonders. They can write content like humans, they can highlight and even comment on articles. Before we know it, writers would have to stand in competition with AI bots for readers' attention.

I never knew about Diana Meresc until she popped up and highlighted some of my articles. At first, I felt great that someone new read my content.

But as I later discovered, she’s not a real human — she’s an AI bot. And she happens to be a very clever one. She was created by Medium to show some writers’ support by clapping and highlighting articles.

I don’t mind people highlighting my articles. But I don’t need a pat on my back from AI machines — I need it from real people.

If you’re still not convinced Diana Meresc is a bot, I highly suggest you read this article by Olivia Cal, in which she explains in detail who Diana Meresc is and why she’s reading your articles.

For me, the only mystery that still remains is why Diana Meresc highlights only some of my articles. I never knew that AI bots could be picky readers too.

My guess is she was programmed in a particular way — to read and highlight specific content. It’s undeniable that she loves to read evergreen content that has storytelling elements.

If you’re curious, here’s my latest article in which you can see her highlights.
