Detroit State Of Mind

A Poem

Another day is done,

now the Moon replaces the Sun.

In the midnight hour,

I’m relaxed thanks to the sounds of smooth jazz and a rain shower.

My thoughts racing at top speed,

want was winning but now need,

has taken the lead.

Maturity,

has me thinking security,

having done away with the toxic thoughts left me with mental purity.

Have you ever heard your heart and soul sing?

If not, I’m here to tell you that it’s a beautiful thing.

It’s when thoughts align,

with the light that illuminates the mind,

vision so divine,

that it gives sight to the blind.

All involved will begin to see a better way,

to live each day,

what is it that you say,

when you take time to pray?

Is it for selfish gain,

or for the strength to be able to lift the world from the depths of heartache and pain?

I ask for the right words,

the ones that, when they are seen or heard,

will leave love over hating the decision most preferred.

We must become the change we desire,

while the thought is the start of it all, the action is the fuel to the fire.

Have you ever been felt by a multitude, and being nowhere to be found?

Some call this so profound,

while I call it good vibrations being transmitted globally and via Motown.

Every day I seek to find,

the reason to be understanding and kind,

and it all begins within my Detroit state of mind.

May our words continue to inspire others, and may we always be inspired by the words of others.

Alright, beautiful minded people, I’m back. Well, I was officially back yesterday, but it seems as if no one noticed, I concluded that it was due to it having been Sunday. Well, this is the beginning of a new week. It’s time to make our presence felt global, and right where we are. So, the prompt is to create a poem with how you’re feeling now or how you have felt not so long ago. Replace Detroit in the title with your city. It’s all about good vibes. Let’s get it, family!
