Depression — You Can Beat It
A poem about what depression feels like
Depression, it frustrates,
it makes you lose yourself,
yet you don’t know why,
it makes you want to cry,
yet you don’t know why,
it makes you want to die,
yet you don’t know why,
and that’s why it hurts,
because you don’t want to
lose yourself,
you don’t want to cry,
you don’t want to die,
you just want to know why,
why you feel this way,
why the monster within,
must have its way,
why you can’t just wake up
tomorrow, and be okay.
You can be, and you will be okay,
depression,
it’s a condition,
a battle of attrition,
but you can,
and will beat it.
Just believe in surviving
today
and tomorrow
will be okay.
Just believe in surviving
today
and tomorrow
will be okay.
Keep repeating that,
and there will be no stopping you from
beating that which is trying to break you;
keep repeating that
and
there will be no stopping you
from beating depression
and making yourself
okay.
