DEP Book Project Updates

The further we go the more we learn

Picture created by Sharing Randomly — Lorena — used with permission

Congratulations to all participants we are into our 3rd prompt Mindfulness. Close to halfway into our process.

The project article has been updated with the current articles for your review

Please check out last month's articles on Health and Wellness featured on our Main Page. If you don't find your article listed please let us know we are missing some of them.

The deeper we get into this book creation the more we learn.

  1. Deadlines can be hard to meet. We are trying to be flexible as much as we can and accommodate everyone as life events happen.
  2. Editing and collaborating take a lot of time in the background.
  3. Simplifying the process would be beneficial for everyone.
  4. More editing of the articles will be needed before publishing the book.
  5. We need to make a decision if we want to include pictures in the book.

What happened in the background in March

Your editors Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles, Sharing Randomly and Lady Dr. Gabriella Korosi had many text discussions, prompt chat meetings, and had a Zoom meeting. What we come up with would bring some changes. We reviewed articles and worked on putting them together to start the book process. We worked with individual authors on their articles.

News about Draft2Digital Platform Experience

Lady Dr. Gabriella Korosi published her book Darkness and Light through Draft2Digital which is now available for your preview. It took 5 tries and uploads. Small things like links and pictures bleed through the next page that needed to be readjusted. This is what our book page would look like and the places it would be published through Draft2Digital.

This is how the book is advertised in the store. The book is currently available on 10 digital platforms (Barnes & Noble, Rakuten kobo, Apple books, tolino, SCRBD, Over Drive, biblioteca, Baker & Taylor, vivlio, Borrow box) and in print. Waiting to be published still on hoopla — it takes a long processing times for them.

Amazon blocked the book because the articles can also be found on Medium. Lady Dr. Gabriella Korosi will contact them to get the block removed. We will run into this issue as well when we are planning to publish our book. This happened before when Gabriella had published a book on Amazon that was the Medium collection of her writings in 2020. Originally Amazon blocked the book, requested an explanation then released the book once the explanation was provided.

Draft2Digital also offers an Audio Book option. Please let us know what you think about this option. We would have to record our book on our own then upload the recording.

During our discussions, your editors realized that it might be better to :

  • Have one and group all the positivity articles together, all the health and wellness ones together … and so on.
  • Create one big book instead of two books…We would like your feedback on this idea. Please let us know what you think.
  • Might be easier to market one book than two books. This would mean we can stop having group 1 and group 2 and have just one group of authors.

This month’s prompt is Mindfulness

Tagging the authors ✍ — I would greatly appreciate it if you commented to let me know you saw this post. Thank you!
