Denial Is Not A River In Egypt
But it is trouble if you swim in it.

What does it mean to say that denial is not a river in Egypt? It simply means that the person is denying that they are in denial. Children are very adept at doing this to escape punishment.
How come some recognize this so quickly in others while denying it when it comes to themselves? Probably because, while being alive in this earthly experience longer may be the only way that they have grown up.
They need to play mental catch-up. They have tried to escape paying for actions since they can remember and, when younger, gotten away with it sometimes.
Now that they are older in chronological years, they try to get out of “getting caught” for misdeeds and not accept responsibility for their own actions. “Not my job, man.” “He did it, not me.” “She made me do it.”
Getting caught with your hand in the cookie jar and saying “Not me.” Every one who commits an act has a built-in denial, whether or not they use it. And many are willing to accept responsibility for their actions, even if grudgingly.
This is why I do not like to use the terms “right” or “wrong.” Saying this many times puts people into a feeling that their backs are against the wall.
And, a back against the wall is what leads to “fight or flight.” I had too many years where I felt that my back was against the wall so I have a feeling what others are going through when faced with this kind of situation.
My spiritual reminder, Reverend Stephanie Sorensen, pastor of The Life Enrichment Center in Mid-Michigan “reminds” me that I can not love and hate at the same time.
Therefore, I choose to love and not get involved in deciding who is right and who is wrong at any time. Choosing love has made me happy, joyous, and free at all times.
Being happy, joyous, and free all the time does not mean that every day is one of laughs and joy for anyone who is having a hard time with anything. This includes myself when sick or injured.
What I can be happy about in this instance is that, whatever I do, it will be the proper thing because my actions would come as an answer to my first saying “God, help me.”
Thank you, God!
