Democracy Receding

(A not quite poem)

Even when democracy is receding, or say dying,

where we in a society or nation are at the wrong

end of the “S” curve. Even then, look for small, barely

noticeable pockets of democracy, collaboration, goodwill

in and amongst the people, and in certain small groups. Those

still dedicated to the principles of equality, justice, and freedom.

For if people choose not to be tyrants, you can’t stop them.

This is not exactly hope, but it’s what we have to work with.
