Delusion is the Solution?

Sometimes, lying to ourselves may be the best solution.

We’ve been at the stage in life when we are confused, personal awkwardness, left out by society, and just overall tired.

So what is the solution to this type of mindset?

While searching through the internet, I stumbled upon a certain topic that was trending. The topic of delusions is the solution to all problems. Or in other words, “delulu is the solulu.”

So why is it popular especially amongst the younger generation? And is it a viable mindset to have when combating stressful situations?

Is being delusional good?

Let’s get this straight, the overall delusion landscape is bad. It’s a way of escaping from reality and facing traumas or stressful situations.

But there is a good side to the delusional realm.

Have you ever faced a situation where you feel like it’s uncontrollable and there is absolutely nothing else to do to help win it in your own favor? Sometimes we just accept the fact that it’s the only way. Is this some sort of delusion we’ve put upon ourselves in order for us to feel more at ease?

We always yearn for things that we can control. If we can’t control that thing, then we usually forget about it and let it naturally happen. Sometimes this action is subconsciously done.

So why?

Well, I believe it’s all a natural mechanism for us to regain our composure and self-control when encountering stressful and traumatic situations. So in some cases, delusion is great! But it’s only great if it can be used to ease the situation and not to escape from it (known as escapism). But we’ll talk more about it later.

Think of delusion as a quick, temporary mindset shift to combat stress and remain in control of our thoughts and emotions. It’s not a forever solution and it’s not meant to be. Delusion is a way to regain control rather than to solve problems. We can only properly solve problems when we are in full control of our thoughts and emotions.

So make sure that the self-inflicted delusion is a way of trying to regain control over yourself rather than a way to escape from reality and not think about it.

Signs of escapism

When you feel afraid you can’t figure a way out of that stressful situation and all you can think about is how do I escape? That might be an early sign of developing escapism. (Saying from personal experiences of course).

The biggest distinction between escapism and delusion is the act of wanting to forget and run away rather than a way of actively working towards a solution with temporary subdues. It is the how you go towards solving a problem and it all starts with the mindset you have. Is it filled with confidence and eagerness or is it filled with guilt and fear?

Escapism is the act of one action that solves all problems. Forever. So rather than a mindset, it’s a permanent solution. In some ways, it’s like procrastination but worse. Believing in this false solution is like believing the way of spelling colour as color. They both mean the same thing but one way is “historically” correct way of spelling.

If you want to know the difference between procrastination, fear, and the different ways of laziness, to your luck, I’ve written an article about this!

In other words, escapism is a false sense of happiness and a temporary boost of dopamine. It will never solve anything and just prolong the inevitable long-term buildup of tension and trauma. And once that time comes, it’s not gonna be easy to pick yourself back up and keep going.

So if you have anything on your mind that you are afraid to confront, its the best to try and comfort yourself and go at your own pace in taking one step at a time to confront that problem. I believe in you.
