Delivering a Sweet Thank You
To all the delivery drivers, postal workers, and online shoppers

On Halloween, as the sun was starting to set, I was running around the house, getting the candy ready, putting on a festive outfit to greet the kiddos at the door, and turning on the Halloween lights. This was the first Halloween I wasn’t going out with my kids since they were hanging out with their friends.
Sadly, we don’t get many trick-or-treaters, so I went all out with full-size candy bars this year.
Suddenly, an Amazon van was parked in front of our home. My mind raced, “Is that for us? What did I order?” Oh yes, lip balm and hand lotion.
The delivery guy was walking at full force up our driveway, probably wanting to get the delivery done quickly to get back home for Halloween festivities, feeling slightly guilty about my small order he was about to deliver. I grabbed a Snickers bar.
I startled him as I opened our front door as he was placing the small package on our doorstep, not realizing I was right there. “Happy Halloween,” I said as I opened the door to pass him the candy bar. As he handed me our order, he looked surprised and smiled. “Thanks!” he said.
Normally I never see the people who deliver packages since they drop and run, which I don’t blame them as I’m sure they are drowning in deliveries.
I’m thankful for all the people who handle the massive amounts of online orders and in the stores. Shopping for people, packaging, and delivery.
Everything is so autonomous on the customer’s side.
Click here, click there. Shopping done.
We tend to forget about the people behind the scenes, hustling to get it done as quickly as possible just so we don’t have chapped lips and dry skin.
