Defending Life is Yes to Abortions
No Abortions laws.
Worldwide, more than 25 million unsafe abortions are performed. There is a lot to say about this, but, as we note, we are stepping on hallowed ground. Maybe there are other stories here. But no, I am not worried about the slippery slope argument. For one thing, slippery slope arguments are generally illogical. Just because we say some elements about a system that should be reexamined doesn’t mean we are burning down the house. The argument against accepting evidence got us wrong! If we allow the government to control something there’s no limit to what the government may try to control next. This is a foolish argument. Actions should be based on their merits or demerits. Anything can be foolish if taken too far. Makes sense to regulate tobacco, just as it makes sense to regulate drugs. It also makes sense to regulate alcohol and air traffic control. But that doesn’t mean we should regulate how and if we gave birth. Each answer has to be debated on its merits. Regulations that made sense in the past are in the past not make sense today, and regulations that make sense today may need to be revised or repealed in the future. The challenge is always to determine what is needed in any situation and moment in time.
The claim is nonsense. Who gives the right to anyone to move the fetus into the political spotlight? Pro-life activists used historical causes to make the fetus a sympathetic victim and feminists who condemn legal abortion to be truly blamed. The radical groups succeeded in bringing to life this conversation about abortion. They even got further making pro-life politics influence conservatism and by extension the Republican party. Helped family values to be highly considered and the fetus to be like a future member of the family. They made legal abortion one of the biggest challenges facing the new modern family. Activists finally after Friday, June 2022 were successful as the law says now “in the third trimester, once the fetus reaches the point of “viability,” a state may regulate abortions or prohibit them entirely.” This decision will have consequences for pregnant women across a wide range of states. In all this chaos, not the big wealthy families will have problems only the marginalized communities will be out of care. Rather than focusing on reducing abortion, policies and politicians should center on the needs of people and protect their rights, bodies, and freedom. Thirteen states have laws already designed to become alive and 22 states have amendments already in place. We know that 108 abortion restrictions were made in 19 states in 2021 prior to this law. How many will be now?
We have changed our standards in the past and might do so again. But it’s time to have a serious discussion about what we want further. Dangerous policies like this one is a major setback for women’s rights. We know beyond a reasonable doubt that this law, as usual, will lead to more damage, possibly devastating damage in some areas. Political leaders who have been swayed by the arguments of pro-life activists should be severely blamed when some women will have to suffer because of this law. It seems that the “American way of life” with rights and liberties is gone, and its departure has to do with some of us who are now changing the Constitution. America is in a select club of states with this kind of law like Russia, Iran, and North Korea. Such an incredible club!
These are the so-called “efficiencies” to concentrate wealth which means power in the hands of a few, and those few can thwart the will of the majority pretty easily. Conservatism at a large scale. The huge plague of this century brought us wars, more control, and no rights. If we think that women are treated as men’s equals we are wrong. Women still face employment discrimination and have barriers to healthcare and of course, now they have an abolished right. So if a woman chooses to abort, she will be prosecuted for murder? If we say yes we are misled by wrong ideas or ideals. A just society protects unborn life but also should protect the life of the mother. Abortions will not end with this law they can only truly end when the American way of life changes, not just its law. No exaggeration to this when American Evangelicalism punches above intellectual influence we all will lose.
How can a “pro-life” activist criminalize a woman who aborts after a non-incriminated rape putting her to choose between prison and death? How is this just, right?
