Deep Diving into My Preferences
Number Two

Here is Subhi Najar’s new prompt.
The focus today is again on your preferences and the “why” behind them. This could be an interesting way to find out more about yourself and your real essence, as our choices determine who we really are.
Here is our list for today`s prompt:
- Yesterday or tomorrow, and why? It’s tempting for me to choose yesterday when I owned a house and didn’t have to pay rent, but I’m going to choose tomorrow because tomorrow is whatever I choose it to be. Will I choose to travel, will I choose happiness over wealth, will I choose good health? I can’t do anything about yesterday, but I can decide what tomorrow will bring.
- Prose or poetry, and why? I love reading beautiful poetry, I love the rhythm, the cadence, the sentiment, the perfect metaphor. I love it because I can’t write poetry and I harbour a slight jealousy of those who are poets.
- When you are into reading, are you into science or literature? and why? I’m not sure how one reads science unless it’s science fiction but I love literature. I love reading multilayered novels with an historical base and I love reading memoirs of ordinary people.
- In love, do you prefer a red rose or a gift, and why? I prefer the gift of a kiss. If someone were to give me a rose, I’d prefer it to be yellow. I don’t enjoy gifts from a lover. I feel they are trying to buy my love.
- If you can choose, is it for you to climb summits or deep dive in the ocean, and why? I love the views from the top of a mountain but my knees don’t enjoy the climb. I can swim or dive in the ocean. It’s a magical world under the sea.
- If the day is 25 hours long, how would you like to spend the extra time? with friends and family or by yourself, and why? I’d like to have an extra hour by myself to do all the things I don’t get time to do every day — give myself a facial, or a foot spa, file my nails, wash my hair, give myself some self-care.
- Capuccino or hot chocolate, and why? Well, this question takes a lot of thought for me to decide. I can have a capuccino any time I want, but a delicious hot white Starbucks chocolate is harder to come by, so I’ll choose the hot chocolate.
- Normal reading or fast reading? and why? This depends on what I’m reading. If I’m studying, I like to fast read but if I’m reading for enjoyment, I liked to slow it down and ingest all of the words rereading my favourite parts. So I’ll choose normal reading since my study days are over.
- New or classic novels? and why? I like classic novels — they’re classic for a reason. Some of the novels that reach the New York Best Seller List are popular because younger readers who haven’t read the classics think they’re wonderful.
- We all change with time, Which version of yourself do you like most, and why? Well, I hope I’ve improved with time. I certainly like myself better than I used to. I’m more self-confident and I actually think I’m more attractive than I was in my earlier life, and if I’m not, I really don’t care. So I’ll choose the version of me I am now. I wouldn’t mind having the body I used to have though.
