Deep Dive Prompt

What do you prefer?

Subhi Najar asks these questions.

Subhi says, “The focus today is on your preferences and the “why” behind them. This could be an interesting way to find out more about yourself and your real essence, as our choice decides who we really are.

Here is our list for today`s prompt:

Day or night, and why? My favourite times are dusk and dawn, sunsets and sunrises, day changing into night and night changing into day. Both are magical. Nightfall and daybreak. Why does night fall and day break? How are these events expressed in other languages?

Summer or winter, and why? Oh, I love a real winter. I have to go to Europe to experience them. Snow, mulled wine, Christmas markets and log fires! I hate summer. Too hot and humid to move. Too hot to sleep. Even too hot for the beach. Sunburn. Sun cancer. Need I go on? I escape the Australian summer to spend winter in Europe.

Tea or coffee? and why? I like coffee. My way. Weak and milky. If it’s too strong I cannot drink it. You can’t make too many mistakes with tea especially if you’re given a tea bag.

Guitar, piano, or maybe another instrument, and why? Ooohhh, difficult choice but I’d have to say guitar. Nothing better than sitting around a campfire with a guitarist and having an old-fashioned singalong.

Still or sparkling water, and why? Sparkling because at least you know they haven’t got it straight from the tap and are charging you as if it’s spring water.

A time off in the mountains or near the seaside, and why? This depends on the time of year. If it’s cold, a log fire in a mountain cottage is the way to go. If it’s swimming weather, time off at the beach is my preference.

The city or the countryside, and why? I live in the city and this week am having a holiday in the country. It’s so relaxing. I could stay here forever. And the prices of property here are so much cheaper than in the city.

Venus or Mars? and why? Venus, because Venus was the Roman goddess of love, sex, beauty, and fertility. In ancient Roman mythology, Mars was the god of war. I hate war!

Reading or writing and why? Do I have to choose? I’ve always been a reader. I have a garage full of books that I bought to read when I retired. Now I’m retired I’ve become a writer but I still read a lot of stories on Medium. I’ll have to choose reading because I learn so much. I believe in lifelong learning.

Love or being loved, and why? I’ve loved and the love hasn’t been reciprocated. In my golden years, I think I really want to be loved.
