Deep Dive into You and Me
A story about otherness

I’ll try to explore my view of the concept of otherness by answering Subhi Najar’s four (intriguingly) philosophical questions.
1. What does happiness mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Happiness is being the other.
A word, a touch, a gesture that turns you into the other, can bring you happiness.

2. What does love mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Love is surrendering to the other.
When you let the other’s world prevail over yours, you can achieve love.

3. What does writing mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Writing is understanding the other.
By including otherness in your stories, you will become deeply woven into the fabric of life and improve as a writer.

4. What does beauty mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Beauty is seeing yourself through the eyes of someone who sees you as the other.
If you can sense their yearning to emulate you, then beauty will be yours.

5. What does “ impossible” mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Impossible means your unwillingness to become the other.
If you cannot achieve the endless capabilities of otherness, then your doings will be severely restricted, and most things in your life will be impossible.

6. What does success mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
It is success when you use the other to achieve greater knowledge, and when you’re ready to share that knowledge with anyone who perceives you as the other.
Being successful requires giving and receiving all the time.

7. What does “ victory “ mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Victory is when you overcome your unwillingness to become the other.
Once having reached the infinite realms of otherness, you’ll be victorious.

8. What does “perfect day” mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
A perfect day is spending it being entirely someone else. Another human being. An animal. A plant. A river. An old building. A distant star.

9. What does “ failure “ mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
Failure is the attempt to become the other and stepping back at the last moment because the rope of the ego is pulling you back too hard.
If you never master the strength to tear off that rope, you’ll always fail.

10. What does “life “ mean to you? Please define it in a word, line, picture, or story.
A constant struggle between you and me that’s ultimately about eradicating the concept of these two entities and bringing them together.

Grace Bianco, Colleen Millsteed, Natalie, Stephen Dalton, Eko BP and anyone else who feels in a philosophical (or humoristic) mood, why don’t you give it a try? You can find Subhi Najar’s article here:
