Deep Dive into Magical Thinking
Superpowers, celebrities, and Aladdin’s lamp

Thanks to Subhi Najar for this Deep Dive offering, especially since it is my first time dipping my toes in the water!
1. If you had three superpowers, what would they be?
Teleportation via my own home holodeck! Cutting down on travel anxiety, crowds, and the vast time mechanizations involved with travel.
Memory Booster Plus+ for those frustrating, swear-inducing times hunting for lost items, calling people “hi, you,” and walking towards yet another gray vehicle in the parking lot that doesn’t belong to me.
And Sleep Assist ™ for a soothing, solid quality night's sleep for myself and to gift to others in desperate need (or want) of several cycles of REM.
2. If you could meet three celebrities of all time, who would you choose?
Dora Carrington, Frida Kahlo, Zora Neale Hurston and my +1 Faith Ringgold (Talk about a team of superheroes!!!)
3. If your life were a novel, what would be its title?
My Get Up and Go Got Up and Went
4. If your heart were chocolate, what kind of chocolate would it be?
Milk chocolate. Nothing too fancy schmancy. Perhaps Cadbury Mini Eggs: a wee bit of a shell, with a lot of melty, squishy sweet stuff inside.
5. If life were a dream, what would you do?
If life were a dream, I would continue to partake unless offered a red or blue pill Matrix style.
6. If you had Aladdin`s lamp, what would be your three wishes?
Outlaw the privatization of prisons.
Senate seats based on each state’s population.
No gerrymandering.
If there were another three wishes for me on a more personal level?
A full-time health aide for my father-in-law experiencing Parkinson’s disease.
(And one for my bonus dad, too.)
I might like a couple of weeks (cough, cough — months? on call forever!?!) with a professional organizer trained to work with ADHD folks. I can organize (creatively 😄) but require improved systems to maintain the supposed organization. I’d also utilize my organizer as a “body double” to assist me in shuffling many items up and out of the house. (My books are all staying, though.)
7. If calories did not exist in life, would you still eat healthily?
Assuming I eat healthy in the first place (mostly)? I might slip in a bonus meal of chocolate with layers of milk chocolate topped with a London Fog from Starbucks. And sweet tea all day long!
8. If you were offered three free airplane tickets to three different destinations, which would you choose?
Ah, but I have the power of teleportation and avoid airplanes the way I avoid meat and mushrooms (blick)!
9. If you had to choose between a cup of happiness or a river of hope, which would you prefer?
I would choose a river of hope so I could share it with as many people who bring their own cup.
Everyone could come on over (you too!)
· Drink their beverage of choice and bring a dish, bag (cookies, chips, carrots, or laundry if they wish), or a plate to pass
· Chat about writing (small wins, frustrations, audacious goals — woohoo!)
· Marvel at our No Mow May (or Hardly Ever Mow) yard (lots of bees, snakes, hydrangeas, and other flowering plants)
· Meet our four cats (Judge, Scout, Izzy, and Frida Kahl-ico) and dog (Sargent) that want to shed, lick, and spread their anxious love all over you!
· Most important of all, bring your cup or jug (any size) to scoop from the river of hope!
Perhaps the hope is in the river. Or in the mere contemplation of hope.
10. If you could make one decision to change the world, what would it be?
Universal healthcare
