Decoding the Song: “That’s The Way of The World — by Earth, Wind & Fire!
A song with Spiritual Power and Solution to our World of Despair!
The song, “That’s the Way of The World” by the legendary group, Earth, Wind & Fire is one of my favorite songs. I stumbled upon this vinyl one summer afternoon, while shopping at an old records store in Allston, Massachusetts, over 20 years ago.
And from the moment the phonograph needle hit this vinyl, I was transported to another dimension — to a beautiful world, filled with Love and infinite possibilities.
Every time I listen to this song, I am reminded that I am in the presence of Divinity! It awakens in me a sense of total belonging; a feeling that I AM Alive and brimming with Infinite potentiality!
Decoding The Hidden Message Every word in this song is encoded with hidden meanings that can only be truly understood through the metaphysical cognitive portal of the heart. This is what is meant by the opening verse:
“Hearts afire creates love desire Take you high and higher to the world you belong Hearts afire creates love desire High and higher to your place on the throne.”
It is our hearts — our cosmic organ of true perception — that allows us to not only see but create a perfect reality. The heart, when tuned to Love, unites and synchronizes all opposing functions and forces of our essence into a single Being, culminating into an Unity of Presence and Consciousness. And this perfect Being can only be manifested when we utilize Love — Primal Law of Creation — to harmonize the elements (i.e. Ideas) of our inner reality into Order!
In fact, the next line in the chorus, “Hearts Afire Creates Love Desire,” is an exact description of the alchemical process that takes place within our hearts as we aliven its infinite potentiality with the goodness of Love energy.
It “Takes You Higher and Higher to a World You Belong” — meaning: Love becomes your vehicle of ascension, raising you “Higher and Higher to Your Place on the Throne.” Of course, “Your Place on the Throne” — is referring to your spiritual Enlightenment.
In essence, Love is the energy of Life and Vitality that allows the Soul to become a Self-Aware and Self-Willed Being! We are not complete until we’re able to Live and Express the Laws of Love!
A Song of Self-Becoming “That’s the way Of the world Plant your flower And you grow a pearl Child is born with a heart of gold Way of the world Makes his heart so cold.”
Ultimately, “That’s The Way of The World” is a song that speaks about the process of Self-Becoming as the rebirth of a Golden Child. It starts with a simple and magical step: “Plant a flower,” of Goodness, and be confident that it will “Grow” into a “Pearl.”
In essence, when we fashion a cosmically pure Intention to awaken our true Self, a “Child is Born With a Heart of Gold.” This Golden Being is created deep within our hearts and expressed as our desire to manifest Love and Abundance throughout the world.
And the song warns us that the “Way of the World Makes His Heart so Cold,” meaning the false systems of our current civilization creates a cold world, filled with fear, hunger, and despair; a world of haves and have nots. This is the only world we’ve known for over 5000 years.
Lifting our awareness above this despair, the song continues:
“We’ve come together on this special day Sung our message loud and clear Looking back, we’ve touched on sorrowful days While future disappear.
You will find Peace of mind If you look way down In your heart and soul Don’t hesitate ’Cause the world seems cold Stay young at heart Ah, ’cause you’re never, never old at heart.”
Meaning: Be united in your mind and heart; focus your Intention and attention on the Goodness within yourself. Yes, you have lived through tough days. But that is now the past! If you dwell on it, the future will disappear!
The solution is to look deep within your “Heart and Soul;” to contemplate within, using the lens of Love and Goodness; and, never hesitate nor doubt yourselves, “Because the World Seems Cold.”
Be kind and Bold! You’re always “Young at Heart!” You always have the power to recreate yourself and your reality!
About Earth, Wind & Fire Earth, Wind & Fire remains one of the most spiritually awakened music groups to ever exist. The founder of the group, Maurice White, was profoundly inspired by ancient Egyptian Metaphysics and Cosmology. We can clearly see this message in both his music and artwork of his recordings (i.e. All N All, I AM, Faces, Raise, and so on.).
