‘Decide What To Be And Go Be It’

It’s a line from a song by the Avett Brothers. It’s corny, but it always catches me off guard with how it hits home.

Sometimes what holds us back is one decision.

The decision to move forward. The decision to take a stand. The decision to stop waiting for the perfect time.

As New Year approaches, instead of thinking of a list of resolutions you have no intention of completing — decide to do something… and then do it. Even if it’s silly. Even if it’s just one thing.

This past year I decided to publish on Medium. I had thought about it for years. But, in 2021 I finally did it.

Where would we be if we stopped dreaming about what we would like to do and instead just went out and did it?
