Summary

The web content describes a "choose your own adventure" drabble story where the protagonist, after choosing to play a harpsichord in front of Death, meets a comical demise when a string snaps and injures them, leading to Death humorously playing their final song.

Abstract

The provided text is an excerpt from a unique interactive fiction piece titled "DRABBLE STORY ARC #1: UNTIL LUCK RUNS OUT," which is part of the "Death Note" series. It is presented as a "choose your own adventure" story where reader choices influence the narrative. In this segment, the protagonist, with misplaced confidence, chooses to play a harpsichord, incorrectly identifying it as a piano. Death, already exasperated, corrects them. The protagonist's lack of knowledge and dismissive attitude lead to a humorous accident where a snapped string from the harpsichord lashes them, causing pain and ultimately their death. Death finds the situation amusing and plays a catchy tune as the protagonist's final song, adding a darkly comedic element to the character's demise. “I pick the piano!” you say confidently.

“It’s a harpsichord,” corrects Death.

“There’s a difference?”

“Yes,” Death said, already annoyed.

“Tomato, potato,” you said dismissively and sat down. You stared at the instrument and began to realize there definitely was a difference. You hesitantly plucked at the strings. You thought you know what you are doing as the notes clunkily resonate.

However, the next note you try to play quickly turned south. The cord snapped, and whipped against your face!

You yelp in pain and staggered about. Death laughed and played your final song; strangely, it’s quite a catchy tune.
