Death Awaits

Troance looked at the clearing. This is where those who wished to journey with him on this hopeless quest were to meet. There was a small fire. A promising sign; at least he would not be alone. As he got closer, he heard the conversation. Excellent, more than one! He was plain, honest, and macabre in his relaying of the quest before them. The task indeed suicide. He was a bit shocked. Stepping into the clearing, he stopped and counted. Oh my, six already. Surely the Moirai are with me.
“You think the fates are with you, boy?” The disembodied voice of Veirl, the demon that haunted him, spoke from within the tree he stood next to.
“Six and I are a formidable number, you must admit,” Troance responded.
Veirl laughed a deep laugh. The laugh gained the attention of those gathered. “Fools, the Moirai are adherents of Eris.
Sleep was lost to Troance, for the echo of Veirl’s words rattled him so.
“The Moirai worship Eris?”
Moirai, or the fates in mythology, are three goddesses who assign to mortals their destinies.
Eris is the Roman Goddess of Chaos.

I am T. Mark Mangum. From an early age, I was hooked and addicted to the imagined, unfathomable worlds of Star Wars, Star Trek, Conan, the Lord of the Rings, and many others. I love writing fiction tales. I love writing in multiple genres. However, my favorites are Sci-fi and Fantasy fiction. I am a father of six; we have two cats and two dogs. Tabletop gaming is a passion.
Could you please read one of these three stories if you get a chance? I am trying to get 100 reads for them.
