Dear President Obama,
Thank you for your thoughts on how to organise ourselves to fight ignorant thugs peacefully. Would you consider saving the world next?
I read your article How to Make this Moment the Turning Point for Real Change with both gratitude and relief. I fully appreciated your rational words of intelligence, calm and common-sense actions that can be taken by Americans.
With no disrespect to George Floyd, his family and friends I would like to ask you to kindly consider working with, perhaps, Andrew Yang and worldwide pandemic experts to devise a plan for America and the UK to follow to shut down the coronavirus. Because our current leaders are letting us down terribly and as a result, we’ve already lost around 150,000 lives, officially, but most likely a lot more.
The current leaders of the UK and the US think that by saying something on live TV, it will come true. The rational and caring people in the world need to help these dangerously powerful men see this is, in fact, not the case in the real world. The world where real people are actually dying due to ministerial incompetence.
Where else will we find an intelligent, calm, and reasonable voice to speak out on behalf of the injustices carried out against George Floyd’s life, the lives of British and Americans and all the other countries and vulnerable or ill-equipped peoples who are being killed by members of organisations (public or private) and leaders too worried about money to care about saving every fellow citizen’s life.
Who else possesses the skills of a true president and the heart of a lion to protect and rebuild a sustainable world?
By stopping agriculture techniques that produce high quantity but poor nutrient value food because the overused soil has been stripped of everything it needs to keep the land and the people healthy.
Overuse of chemical fertilizers and pesticides poisons the organisms in the soil and as a result our food. Impact of pesticides use in agriculture: their benefits and hazards.
To implement systems such as grazing cows on fallow fields to make use of natural fertilizer (manure)that are good for the soil and all living organisms.
To replant forests and jungles which were allowed to burn to the ground, the raging fires killing every living thing in their paths, and clearing the land for palm oil, soybean production or cattle raising.
To stop the relentless ‘increased profits’ for the umpteenth year running. The planet can’t handle it and as a result, it is fighting back. A sensible world with reasonable leaders would take the warning and plan measures to appease and amend for the benefit of all. Not just making the richest richer. No sir, that kind of behaviour must surely be prevented going forward?
We do want to survive as a species, don’t we?
The introduction of Universal Basic Income worldwide, promises to improve the mental health of people who wouldn’t have to worry every month about survival. It could also assist in the refocus humanity to improve the health of the planet and every living organism on it. Finnish basic income pilot improved wellbeing, study finds.
You have already given the world so much of yourself. I would understand if you were inclined to enjoy your retirement. I would be. But right now, I feel compelled to take action, don’t you?
I cannot rest while people are dying from unwarranted brutal physical or invisible viral attacks.
The technology must exist for world citizens to vote for a World President. To vote for life.
A president who could form his dream government of forward-thinkers, of experts in their fields, and of the people who already foresaw this disaster and were ignored, to ensure the whole world is included in the battle against the coronavirus, and to design and act upon a plan for the restoration of the ecosystems that previously prevented the virus from jumping to humans.
We, the whole world, needs to work together to return our planet to her former glory. Then, maybe, we can smile and rest.
Yours most sincerely,
Karen from the UK. 💛
