Dear Medium Writers, This is The Writing Challenge We Need

And it’s so simple.

A few days ago, I posted an article about writers selling their souls.

Most writers face the same problem when they enter this business — should I write for the money or because I love it?

But we end up enticed by view heaven, so it’s obvious what we choose first.

I can’t believe so many writers resonated with what I said.

It shows just how misguided you can be.

Heck, I used to throw away writing ideas I was passionate about because the topics didn’t “sell.” And guess what?

Those posts did HORRIBLE.

So I’m using this post now to issue a challenge to all writers out there.

Think about the niche(s) you write about the most. What topics sell the most? Write a list.

Great, now ball that shit up and throw it away.

I want you to branch out. Even if the topic seems weird to you, write about something different that also makes your heart sing.

It could be anything.

If you have a life-changing story about travel, but your golden niche is mental health, so be it.

Don’t let your mind misguide you.

This is the “do whatever the hell I want because I’m passionate about it” challenge.

I do this at least twice per week and it’s the main reason why I’m still writing.

And don’t even think about going viral.

Free-write it.

The ball is in your court. Do whatever you want, as long as it comes from the heart.

Once you do this, you’ll enjoy the writing process a lot more.
