Dear Medium reader,
Why did you clap just once?
Thank you for reading my story. I really appreciate you taking your time. Over all the millions of articles on here, you chose to read mine and I am grateful.
Also, I noticed that you liked it because you clapped for it. But dear reader, why did you clap only once? One clap? That clap was not loud enough!
What are you going to do with the rest of the 49 claps? Where are you going to take them? Give them to someone else? Give them to another story?
When I read a story depending on how much I liked it, I never give less than 5 claps.
My average claps are about 15. Above 25 if I really love it. All 50 claps if it spoke to me!
I am aware a story needs to be good to deserve and to get many claps. I am also aware that claps no longer determine earnings on Medium. I wasn’t even a writer on Medium when they did, so that is not what I am aiming for.
I just love them. I love seeing many claps below my story. They make me happy and I know that they also make you happy and that you love them too.
One clap is like going to a 2 hour comedy show and only letting out a crackle. It’s like making love to a lover who responds lazily to your good strokes and rides.
If you gonna clap, clap like you will never clap again!
So dear reader, don’t be afraid. Don’t hold back. Make that loud noise. Clap away!!! Because I am going to do the same to your story too.
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.
Sincerely,
Me
