Dear Editor, Please Don’t Abandon Me
Free verse poetry
Thank you, dear editor for accepting my work for publishing it giving it a home to stay.
But wait! where are you? why didn't you respond? why did you leave?
You brought me into your world A world that is completely new to me.
I held your hand looked forward to your thoughts, your appreciation.
But you abandoned me on a stranded island You left me, dear editor, when I needed you the most.

I don't know why, but I feel abandoned like I just got stranded on an island when an editor publishes my article and vanishes. No private note, no clap, no highlights, and certainly no comments. The happiness I had felt of being published with them suddenly vanishes. Then no matter how many claps and responses I get later, I always miss the response I didn't get from that pub’s editor.
I guess, when we talk about publications, we talk about the person behind the publication. It is not just a name with a logo, it is what its editor represents. I am sure we all feel that some editors are so warm and welcoming while others don't bother to build that human connection.
I feel a little interaction or little words of appreciation go a long way and every editor should take note of this. Especially those who avoid any interaction with the writers whatsoever.
Thank you for reading. :)
