Dear Average Individual, You are Powerful

Ever wonder where societal power come from? You may guess its the president, politicians, and people with generational wealth. It’s none of these things. Its us, regular people. People like me. People like you. We work a typical 9–5 and lead average lives. Our children attend public schools that are funded by government funds and tax dollars. Some families depend on public assistance to get by. We pay into the tax and government systems to keep things running. Economy would be dead without average people.

How do politicians get elected into office? The people, us. In a court room, who participates in the decision making of deciding whether the defendant is guilty or not guilty? The jury, which are the average people randomly called in to duty via mail. Ever wonder what population most businesses gain the most profit to? Its the average person. How do the said powerful individuals get power? Through average individuals. How does a rich individual get their riches? Off the backs of regular people and people at the bottom of the food chain.

The power of the average individual is underrated. The privileged classes would not be privileged if it was not for the average people. My dear people, we have the power to shake up anything with anything from movements, riots (not for riots personally), practicing no contact, and refusing to provide any fuel supply any fuel that keeps things going. For example, the prison inmates used horrific riots inspired from a death of an inmate to shake and force change in the 5th season of Orange is the New Black TV series. What does the word conform derived from? To conform is to behave in a way that is socially acceptable. Who determines what is socially acceptable and what is not? Think about that.

We have more power than we think. How we wield that power is within the square of our control. We can use this power to command change that will do the people better good than before. Instead of demanding the cessation of funding the police force, we need to command enforceable safety measures to keep the public safe. We, the people have the power to change our society for better or worst. Use this power wisely because with great power, comes with great responsibility.
