Dead of Night

a poem

Photo by Lukas Robertson on Unsplash

dead of night in my bed under blankets warm in the dark breathing deep I sleep like an animal in my lair breathe deep in and out I incubate integrate dream deep in my heart all the way to my unconscious to my self

my soul connects I talk to my soul I find my soul my soul lives and talks to me what to do how to be how to live how to dream incubate integrate all the things that I know to be true

am I asleep am I awake I am a fox a coyote, alert a bear hibernates flick of an ear twitch of a tail senses raw

what is this energy this force that flows through me that breathes for me that guides me that shows me the way thunder rolls lightning strikes inspiration comes in the dead of the night
