Day 3 in Upland — My Metaverse Empire Is Slowly Growing

On the very first day, I went from being a visitor to a real Uplander. From now on, it goes forward with smaller steps.

I report here about my journey through the blockchain metaverse called Upland. I’ve been at it for three days now. If you want to follow my journey from the beginning, start with my report from day one:

My third day as a citizen of Upland

After receiving 6000 UPX (The currency in Upland) as a welcome gift on day one, I had invested an additional $20 to buy more UPX. Upland makes it very easy to purchase blockchain-based currency because payment can be made via Paypal.

I had decided to buy it because beginner properties cost an average of 3500 to 4500 UPX. So from my welcome money, I could have afforded only one plot. Plots are the only way to earn more UPX for the time being.

There are three ways to generate UPX using properties:

1. each plot yields a tiny amount per day. However, this is so low that it takes over five years to recoup your investment this way.

2. several plots can be combined into one of several collections. Whenever you complete a collection, you get UPX as a reward. The more challenging a collection is, the larger the sum will be. For example, the first collection you can complete requires you to own only one plot in Upland.

Another advantage of collections: The yields of the individual plots in the collection get a boost in terms of daily earnings.

3. once you have a net worth of more than 10000 UPX, you will be promoted from visitor to uplander. As an uplander, you can resell the properties you have purchased for any price. You can choose whether you want the price to be in UPX or Us dollars.

So you will need more than one plot to create this net worth. Alternatively, of course, you can just buy UPX and do nothing else with it. That’s pretty pointless, though.

This slight digression was necessary so that you understand why I put money into the game in the first place. Upland is a play-to-earn game in the long run, but you have to invest in the beginning.

So with my 6000 UPX welcome money and the 20,000 UPX I bought, I had a total of 26,000 UPX. Today, however, my net worth is already 39,113 UPX.

So, I have already earned 13,113 UPX (a little more than 13 dollars). I got most of the UPX for completing collections. In addition, I made something yesterday by chance during a treasure hunt, and the rest are the earnings of my eight acquired properties so far.

24,191 UPX are in the properties, and 4921 UPX I have available in cash, so to speak. From this, I could acquire one more plot of land, which I intend to do today. But I have to be careful to choose one that will help me get closer to my following collection.

Next, I would like to complete a collection, “The Oaks.” for that, I need three lots in “The Oaks” neighborhood in Fresno. So I sent my explorer ( the game character ) there and am currently looking for free lots there. But it seems like everything is sold out there. So I would have to buy from other players. Unfortunately, most players charge a ridiculous amount of UPX for their plots.

It seems that everyone wants to have their stake at least twenty times higher. I wish these players good luck, but I would not pay these prices.

If I can’t get more collections together in Fresno at reasonable prices, I’ll move to another city where there are even more free plots.

Oh, by the way: I also put one of my lots up for sale as a trial. I’m being modest and only asking four times what I paid.

So my next task will be to find a city that is still relatively new and offers many free plots.
