Day 26: The beginning of non-duality, part 2

Welcome to 24/365 short, daily meditations for a more mindful, relaxed, and connected life.

An eagle soaring through the sky (Playground-v2)

Repeating the gesture I made yesterday, we will do another short pointing exercise.

1. What To Do:

  1. Sit down. Pay attention to the weight of your body.
  2. Look at an object in front of you.
  3. While you pay attention to it, turn your attention unto itself. Look for the one who’s looking.
  4. Repeat step 3 three times. Make it a brief effort.

2. Why to do it:

Concentration efforts train your mindfulness. They make it easier for you to spot what you’re thinking, feeling, and noticing.

As such, they’re valuable.

But they don’t give you an alternative. They won’t let you recognize that there is an alternative to identifying with thoughts and feelings.

Looking directly for what’s looking can bypass that.

It can immediately let you recognize that you’re not thoughts and emotions. You’re not at the center of your head pointing attention outward.

You’re the awareness as a medium for all to occur. And you can recognize this, which brings freedom of mind.

3. Closing
